Viera’s Big Year – 2025
Spring is here, and Viera’s Big Year is already soaring—but it’s never too late to join the fun! For those new to this thrilling event, Viera’s Big Year is a yearlong birding competition that challenges participants to spot and document as many bird species as possible within the Viera community. It’s the perfect opportunity to explore the outdoors, discover the beauty of local wildlife, and engage in an educational and budget-friendly hobby.
Using the eBird app, participants can log their bird sightings and share their checklists with our official account. The competition runs from January 1 to December 31, 2025, and covers areas within the Viera Development of Regional Impact (DRI) as well as a few select outer locations. Be sure to review the boundary map for precise details.

Last year’s inaugural event was a resounding success, with over 193 unique bird species documented and a total of 27,453 birds logged. The Ritch Grissom Memorial Wetlands proved to be a hotspot for bird sightings.
