Overlooked School Programs Every Parents Needs To Know
With all the madness of registration and school supply shopping, back to school season can be pretty stressful. Many aspects of going back to school might be overlooked during this time. Luckily, we have made a guide with some not-so-common and useful information parents may forget during this time.
If you are a parent worried about remembering to pack lunchboxes or giving your kid money every day for lunch, there is an easy solution to this issue! Brevard County Public Schools allows parents to pre-pay for their child’s lunch completely online. Through MyPaymentPlus, parents can prepay for their child’s lunch at any time throughout the year. Parents can do this through their website or directly from their app! Click here for more information.
Parents looking to volunteer at the school or chaperone field trips must become an approved volunteer through Brevard County Public Schools. There are two types of volunteers a parent can be, a listed or registered volunteer. Both will need to go through background checks and fingerprinting, however registered volunteers have a bit more responsibilities than a listed volunteer. If you are interested in chaperoning a field trip, or helping out at your child’s school, you must go through this process. For more information on signing up to be a volunteer, check out their website.
Tutoring benefits all students, not just those struggling in certain subjects. We have many different tutoring centers here and just outside of Viera. Before searching elsewhere, parents should ask their child’s teacher or other faculty members about tutoring programs at their school. Teachers as well as other students offer tutoring within the schools themselves. Kumon Math and Reading Center located at Viera Colonnade Shops near The Avenue Viera has specialized tutoring programs for both math and reading. Students advance through their curriculum at their own pace, making it more focused on individualized learning. Located in Suntree, Mathnasium is a math tutoring center for students of all ages. They have multiple programs to choose from including test prep, catch up, keep up, and get ahead!
Brevard County Schools offer many classes for adults as well. Not only do they offer GED programs for adults who want to receive their high school diploma, but what you may not know is that they offer tons of lifestyle / community classes. They offer classes such as basic computer skills, ceramics, piano, and foreign languages. You can also find apprenticeship programs for multiple different careers on their website.
