Green Halloween & Where to Wear Your Costume!

All Things Halloween Costumes: Green Halloween

As Halloween approaches many of us are hunting for the perfect costume. While stores like Walmart, Target, Spirit Halloween, and even Amazon, are the usual go-to spots, don’t overlook the unique finds that thrifting can offer to complete your look. Local thrift stores have a plethora of fun vintage pieces that can be repurposed into one-of-a-kind costumes. Planning a “thrift hunt” with friends can be a great way to collectively create the perfect costume and make lasting memories.

Another cost-efficient and recyclable-friendly idea is to host a costume swap party with neighbors, friends, and family. As the years pass, we tend to grow our collection of previously worn costumes. Often they are never worn by us again. However, hosting a costume swap event is a brilliant idea to get a new gently used costume, reduce waste, and connect with others in your local area. A couple of key things to keep in mind would be to set a date and time at a secure location (local park, community clubhouse, or for smaller gatherings, a home or backyard). Spread the word to neighbors and friends through Facebook pages, texts, or emails. Collect and organize the costumes so people can easily find similar sizes and items together. Lastly, make the rules clear, for example: If you bring one costume, you may leave with one costume, if you bring one accessory, you may leave with one accessory, etc.
